AuraPic combines ideas from personality research with a creative matching process. Your ten trait choices guide a profile, which AI interprets as a Personal Symbol, Signature Fruit and Spirit Animal. Here is how those steps connect.
The personality framework
The Big Five is a widely studied framework for describing patterns in how people think, feel and behave. Its five dimensions are often called OCEAN:
- Openness: curiosity, imagination and interest in new ideas.
- Conscientiousness: organisation, responsibility and following through.
- Extraversion: sociability, assertiveness and outward energy.
- Agreeableness: compassion, cooperation and trust.
- Neuroticism: a tendency to experience worry and other negative emotions, also called negative emotionality.
These describe dimensions rather than fixed personality types. Research questionnaires such as the Big Five Inventory-2 have been tested for reliability and validity. Soto and John (2017) describe that work. AuraPic uses its own quiz and scoring rules; it does not administer the BFI-2.
From your choices to a profile
You choose one of nine traits in each of ten rounds. Later options adapt to earlier choices, while keeping variety and avoiding repeated trait families. Choosing one word shows your preference among those options. It does not mean the other eight traits are absent from your personality.
Each trait has five predefined OCEAN values from 0 to 10. For each dimension, AuraPic averages the values of your ten chosen traits and compares each choice with the eight alternatives shown alongside it. The final score gives 65% weight to the chosen-trait average and 35% to the comparison score.
How the comparison score is calculated
For each round, subtract the average value of the eight alternatives from the chosen trait's value. Average those ten differences, divide by two, and add 5. Blend that comparison score with the chosen-trait average using the weights above, keep the result between 0 and 10, and round to one decimal place. The same choices and alternatives produce the same scores. Different alternatives can change the scores even when the ten chosen traits are the same.
AuraPic also combines separate trait values into five custom descriptive axes: energy, mind, nature, tactics and identity. These add context about preferences such as reflective or expressive, imaginative or practical, and structured or adaptable. They are separate from the Big Five.
How the three matches are chosen
The AI receives your ten trait names, calculated scores and descriptive context. It is asked to choose one match from each of three curated lists, using the qualities assigned to each item and considering the whole profile:
- Personal Symbol: an image that represents qualities in your profile. For example, Tree is associated with growth, grounding and wisdom.
- Signature Fruit: a playful metaphor for your qualities. Apple, for example, is associated with familiarity, balance and dependability.
- Spirit Animal: an animal metaphor for your qualities. Sparrow is associated with humility, adaptability and community.
These examples describe AuraPic's creative associations. They are not scientific rules linking people to a particular object, fruit or species. The AI also writes two descriptive qualities and a short reason for each match. Several matches may fit a profile, so a new generation can produce different matches or wording.
Where your favorite color fits
Your selected color is translated into a creative mood label and passed to the AI alongside your traits. It can influence the interpretation as well as the artwork. The image generator then uses the matches and color to create your bright aura, smoke and bokeh. These visual effects are artistic choices; AuraPic does not measure an aura or use color as a validated personality test.
What the result can tell you
AuraPic is designed for reflection, entertainment and sharing. Its trait values, adaptive questions, 65/35 weights, custom axes and symbolic matches have not been scientifically validated. The scores are internal summaries, not population percentiles or a diagnosis. Research supporting the Big Five does not establish the accuracy of AuraPic's particular quiz. Treat your result as a creative interpretation of the qualities you chose.
